Arrived in the world after Sergeant Major John Allison returned from winning WWII (BEF, Desert Rats Egypt, Italy & Austria) and married his sweetheart, Edna May. Raised in Birmingham (Villa! Villa! Villa!) & Kinver (Head Boy, Edgecliffe Secondary Modern). Played in various rock bands with BFF Tony (RiP), including two tours in Germany with The Quiet Few (we weren't). Married Patricia Anne 19th July 1968, St. Peter's Kinver and lived happily ever since.

Graduated St. Peter's College, Saltley with a UK Teaching Certificate in Geography & Music. Emigrated to Canada 1969. Taught in Northern Alberta. Teacher union president. B.Ed., M.Ed., Ph.D. University of Alberta. Joined Faculty of Education, University of Western Ontario.

Professor emeritus 2013. CV i/c 10 teaching awards, 80 publications, 66 conference papers,10 expert witness briefs. Scholarly interests include schools, especially state and non-state schools in modern times, philosophy of science, and education policy. Recent publications include studies of Canadian education performance on national and international student assessments and related op eds on education policy

Recently consumed with writing poetry. Contemplates finishing his SF novel and an account of teaching in the north from time to time.
